I just came across this article in the mail and guardian newspaper and I think its quiet interesting – I know its old and all but with Khama introducing these new social tax laws on booze I think it would be quite vital to revisit this story to understand the ideologies behind the man and how he assumed power. Reminds of an article I read about David Magang’s book – there is one line which reads thus: “Botswana has had three presidents from independence prior to Ian Khama – of all those three Mogae was the most eduacated but Seretse was the most learned!”

The imminent handover of power by the current President, Festus Mogae, to the Vice-President, Ian Khama, is increasingly raising concern within Botswana itself.” End Quote
