Sesana & BlairCKGR Issue

mmmmh, suppose Roy Sesana and survival international (SI) “win” their case against the government against the relocation of the Basarwa from the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR), what fruit will that bear? Will the diamonds from the country be deemed blood diamonds? How will that affect the economy of the country – keep note that diamonds contribute more than 70% of export earnings and about 50% of the GDP – and, OK wait, what exactly is the case here? isnt there a compromise somehow?

We usually get a one sided story from the media and from survival international so its hard for me to actually take sides here – but i have heard SI’s side of the story and have been wondering if they continue staying in the CKGR how will they get basic amenities that every Motswana is entitled to – schools, hospitals, roads, clean water, electricity etc – i mean with them scattered (low number per square km) in a restricted area in which we are trying to protect the natural fauna & flora? Will they be allowed to kill animals – endangered species? I might be ill informed but i compare the relocation process with other cases where people in other villages (say Molepolole for example) have been asked to move when there was need to build a rooad or something like that and compensated – isnt it the same issue here?

President

We dont vote for president in Botswana, the winning party’s leader (seats in parliament) automatically gets the position, i think its time we amended our legislation before we end up in the gutter! Imagine the president has absolute power and is immune to prosecution whilst in office – its only a matter of time before someone manipulates that kind of power – and that might be in the near future – some of you might have heard of a civil servant who is illegally using the army helicopters and other items and is kinda “untouchable” – well that civil servant is our next president!

The future sure aint orange!
